My friend Thelma left Provo about eight months ago to continue in Washington, D.C. the work she started at BYU nearly six years ago. She's taking a stand for Burma, for a people and a country that have long been in political and social turmoil. Now monasteries of Burmese monks are taking a non-violent stand against their nation's militant leaders. Thelma is better able to tell you about the atrocities that are being waged against the Burmese people and their imprisoned democratic leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, and about the monks' stand against violence.
